Jose Nisa (1998) is a musician and pedagogue committed to the music and society of his time.

Born in Bienvenida (Badajoz, Spain), he develops an interest for music at an early age, that way, he starts studying saxophone in his native town alongside with Miguel Morán, orchestra director. Until he met saxophonist Diego Carretero, who was a key element in his musical path, being his professor until getting in Badajoz's Conservatorio Superior de Música where he finished his studies in 2022 with merits and an extraordinary prize under Vicente Contador tutelage.

Being active in the creation field, he participates in contemporary music cycles and creative schools alongside Europe. He has taken part in Lucerne Festival Academy in 2023, Lucerne Contemporary Orchestra in 2024 and Container Ensemble [BJZ] among others. He has taken part in festivals as a student and performer for cycles XI-XII-XIII of contemporary music (Badajoz), Mixtur Festival, Klexoslab and European Creative Academy.

He is cofounder and saxophonist at Ensemble PlayTime and Quatuor Amapola, both focused on mixed and multidisciplinary projects, awarded by Ponticello Association and Orpheus Competition. In the heart of these associations he has worked with his contemporary composers like Gonzalo Navarro, Román Carvajal Pardo, Peter Eötvös, Sergei Leonov, Nicolas Roulive, Stefano Gervasoni, Jaouen Rudolf or Pierre Jodlowski.

In 2020 he was selected to take part in Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival (Germany) and ended up being part of the famous international orchestra (Switzerland) and started collaborating with Orchestre de la Suisse Romande (OSR) participating in various programs.

He has been directed by well-known directors like Enno Poppe, Holly Hyun Choe, Jonathan Nott, Vimbayi Kaziboni, Roderick Cox or Charles Dutoit.

As an educator, he teaches saxophone in L'Harmonie de Avully school, being part of the professors who teach masterclasses for L'Orchestre en classe project in Geneva (Switzerland) and has carried through Young Artist Academy as well as Masterclasses at Asia Pacific Saxophone Academy in Bangkok (Thailand).

In June 2023, he finished his Master's on contemporary music interpretation at Haute école de musique in Geneva with professor Joshua Hyde and he is currently taking a Master's in pedagogy at the same institution under Carine Tripet's tutelage.
